The webcam is aimed at the San Juan Mountains, north of town, home of the Weminuche Wilderness Area, almost 500,000 acres of land left virtually untouched. In the distance, the mountains rise to an altitude of over 12,000 feet. Occasionally, primarily in the morning from about 7:30 until 9:00, you'll see a hot air balloon floating by. Sometimes they land in the fields around our home in the country.
